senior adults
With a large number of senior adult members, First Baptist Church strives to meet the tremendously varied needs of that age group with a comprehensive program that is deep-rooted and strong spiritually, motivating, encouraging, caring, and one that reflects the importance of senior adults to the Church. The Senior Adult Council initiated a survey, with the cooperation of the Sunday School, the Deacon Family Ministry, and the Home Care group, of all First Baptist Church members 60 years of age or older to find their needs, interests, and concerns. From that survey the blueprint for a program tailor-made for this age group was drawn.
The Senior Adult Council is made up of the Sunday School Department Directors of each Senior Adult group, the Senior Adult Sunday School Coordinator, the President and Activities Chairman of VIP, the fellowship and activity club; the Chairman of the Home Care Group, the Senior Adult Choir Director, and the Minister with Senior Adults . Because this leadership represents the broad spectrum of programming, it is their sincere desire that First Baptist Church Senior Adults will have the best in a well-rounded and coordinated program of Bible study and spiritual enrichment, with opportunities for outreach, service, and fellowship.
Senior Adult program activities include exercise classes, day and overnight trips, and special crafts projects. VIP is an organization for seniors that provide a monthly opportunity for them to gather together and share experiences, fellowship, and a meal. In addition, a program with guest speakers is included before the meal.
